At the Pride of Tameside business awards in May 2013 we were fortunate enough to meet Nicola Graham, mummy to Reuben who sadly passed away of a rare and aggressive brain tumour in August 2012 at the tender age of 23months.
After hearing Reuben’s tragic story, and hearing the impressive cause his mum is now tirelessly supporting we decided we wanted to do whatever we could to help.
We started a raffle with some amazing prizes for dog and humans alike and we launched the very first Healthy Hounds swim-a-thon.
This was a 12hour marathon swim with sessions every 15minutes, each dog had a 10minute swim and a shampoo to finish, all the dogs were sponsored for their swims and everyone got a goody bag which included a Reuben’s Retreat neckerchief!
It was a fantastic day with a cake stall to keep energy levels up, we ended up swimming 48 dogs!
All in all, with the raffle and the swim-a-thon we raised over £2770 for Reuben’s Retreat!
We are currently in the process of arranging a sponsored dog walk and a bathing marathon to raise even more, if you’re interested or would like any more details just give us a call on 0161 339 5125
Just take a look at some of our fantastic swimmers and their neckerchiefs!
